Canon 1251 Abstinence from eating meat or another food according to the prescriptions of the conference of bishops is to be observed on Fridays throughout the year unless they are solemnities; abstinence and fast are to be observed on Ash Wednesday and on the Friday of the Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Canon 1252 All persons who have completed their fourteenth year are bound by the law of abstinence; all adults are bound by the law of fast up to the beginning of their sixtieth year. Nevertheless, pastors and parents are to see to it that minors who are not bound by the law of fast and abstinence are educated in an authentic sense of penance.

Can. 1253 It is for the conference of bishops to determine more precisely the observance of fast and abstinence and to substitute in whole or in part for fast and abstinence other forms of penance, especially works of charity and exercises of piety.

Novena/Mass- St. John Ma. Vianney

Tomorrow, August 26, 2008, we will start our novena to St. John Ma. Vianney, the patron saint of parish priests. APs will lead the novena/mass in the church. This year, because we are geared into forming BECs, we will also have novena/masses in puroks and sub-parishes. For a start, at 7PM tomorrow, Purok 1, under the leadership of their coordinator, Sis. Baby Macaspac will host the 1st day. All members of ministries living in the area will have to participate, each was given a task and will have to invite others to join, especially those not active in the church yet. After the mass, a consultation will follow. Msgr. Cesar Pagulayan, our parish priest will give a short talk on BEC, together with Bro. Robert Suarez, PPC Lay Coordinator and Bro. Fortune Perlas, our BEC Coordinator. They will talk on how we will go about the formation of small groups, "pamayanan" how we would like it called (KKK, Kapatirang Kristiyano sa Kapitbahayan) or whatever will come out after the consultation with all the groups. To be able to cover all the puroks and sub parishes, the activity will continue until August, as we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of the Assumption. For inquiries, please call or text 09209082450.
